Fumbles

For now, here’s how Fumbles will be handled for Benders. This is subject to change as I watch it play out.

If you roll a natural 1 in combat, you have missed and there is a potential for a Fumble. To determine if you have fumbled, roll an attack roll again.

If the second roll is high enough that it would have been a hit, you have just missed, doing no damage to your enemy and incurring no negative consequence to yourself.

If the second roll is a miss, you compute the difference between your roll (adding all your attack modifiers) and the target number needed for a hit, then compare that difference to the following chart:

Range Melee Missile
1-5 Return to Flat Footed status. You can’t use your Dex mod for defense in the following round. May not use Dex mod for defense or attack in the following round.
6-9 Dazed. Enemies get a +2 on attack rolls against you during the next round. You may only do one action, attack or move or other. You may still do free actions at the DM’s discretion. Dazed. 13-14 Slip. You fall prone. During the next round: you suffer -4 to your attack rolls, enemies get +4 to melee attacks and -4 to missile attacks against you. You may use your move action to stand up.
